ABOUT US

Core Pillars

PGHS^2 and its membership affirm the following 5 core principles.

Science: We believe in the discovery of new theoretical and empirical scientific knowledge through ethical observational and experimental study. We support scientific inquiry free from political or ideological enforcement. We aim to disseminate unbiased evidence-based data and recommendations that impact our communities.

Health: We believe that all people have the right to live in an environment that supports their health and well-being, including universal access to medical care, healthy food, and a healthy environment. As such, we support policies to protect or expand clinical care and public health.

Political speech: We uphold the principles of the United States’ Constitution. We acknowledge the special relevance of the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Nonviolence: We believe in nonviolent protest and political action. We vehemently oppose any and all political violence, whether at the hands of state or non-state actors.

Inclusion: We support a diverse community and recognize the importance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN) and the Civil Rights Act (US). We stand against  discrimination based on any person’s religion, race, ethnicity, social class, gender or gender identity, sex or sexual orientation, marital status, language, nationality, political affiliation, or immigration status.
